Ouma joins Red Eagles

FORMER Cranes coach and player Polly Ouma (right) is back into active service. He was unveiled to Express players and fans as the Red Eagles coach by club chairman Godfrey Kirumira.

Express, hitherto one of the giants in local soccer, have had a disappointing season and are looking to better their fortunes. The team was being run by a pool of coaches, first led by Godfrey Nyola who abandoned it after they were ejected from the Super League race by Police.

In a few remarks to the players, Ouma stressed discipline as the key if the club will ever come to the limelight again. The team starts full fledged training next week. Ouma will be assisted by Kefa Kisaala and Ibrahim Buwembo.

In a related development Express fans will hold their general meeting at Wankulukuku on Sunday to review the past season and also plot for the future, according to fans’ chairman Francis Ntalazi.

Kirumira has been at the helm of the crowd pulling Express for eight years now.

Eastern regions’s Mbale Heroes, Buganda’s KB Lions, Kampala’s Super Cub and Maji have qualified for the 2005-2006 Super League, reports Joseph Wanzusi and Norman Katende.

Heroes completed their journey back to the Super League by beating Tororo-based rivals Teens Young in the Super Mini League yesterday.

Congolese striker William Engambe made the day for Heroes with a 58th goal at the Mbale Municipal stadium.

The losers yesterday will play-off today for the final berth to the league.
