KAMPALA — Uganda needs over 30,000 police officers to monitor the 2006 presidential and parliamentary elections, the deputy chairperson of the defence and internal affairs committee, Capt. Stephen Basaliza, has said. He said the current 15,000 would not be enough to observe over 16,000 polling stations. He was recently reviewing the Police amendment Bill 2005 which seeks to amend the 1994 Act.

EC chief set
