A heavily depleted boxing squad for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games next February has split Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) top officials.

A faction led by UABF president Ishaq Kamoga, patron Sam Lukanga and former secretary Aciga Fula have demanded the ouster of secretary Sande Musoke accusing him of betraying them at UOC.

Meeting at an undisclosed venue on Saturday, the group accused Musoke of conniving with Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) president Maj Gen Francis Nyangweso to favour specific pugilists.

“They are plotting against me somewhere in town but leaders come and go. I’ll also go. The problem is we are dealing with all sorts of people including witchdoctors,” a furious Musoke said.

“I’m too small a man to convince Nyangweso and after all he even rejected some of our proposals.”

Musoke said that Nyangweso rejected Jolly Katongole and heavyweight Asuman Katende accusing them of indiscipline.

Trouble begun on Friday when Musoke and national sports officials helped UOC vet athletes for the UOC quota to the games.

The UABF representation was chopped from eleven boxers to four and a coach.

The are fly Martin Mubiru, feather Sharif Bogere, lightwelter Solomon Bogere, heavy Nicholas Bule and Dick Katende as coach.
