STANDARD Chartered Bank in partnership with World Vision have organised a 7km charity walk aimed at raising awareness about the plight of children in northern Uganda.

Harriet Musoke, the head of corporate affairs, said last week that the bank had already committed $100,000 (about sh180m) towards the construction and furnishing of a primary school at Cetkana in Gulu that will enroll at least 500 pupils.

“We signed an agreement with World Vision to build a school in the north, and construction is already ongoing.

“But the needs of this school and others are more than that.

“They need scholastic materials among other things and we believe the charity walk will help raise money to cover those needs,” Musoke said.

The walk is slated for November 5 in Kampala.
