EXPRESS FC secretary Kavuma Kabenge yesterday said that Godfrey Kirumira’s (right) informal resignation, accompanied by a couple of other ‘walk outs’ from the club, was no cause for alarm.

Forty eight hours after the business mogul had called it quits as Red Eagles chairman, the club’s assistant treasurer David Kasujja and administrative secretary Ibrahim Kiryowa decided to relinquish their positions.

Vice chairman Meddie Ssebagala, second vice chairman Sebunnya ‘Kasiwuukira’, team manager Kassim Kimbugwe, welfare Ali Sendijja and treasurer Edward Mperese are reported to have followed suit.

Yet Kabenge, who insists on having clung to his position stated, “There is no crisis. Not even the chairman Kirumira has resigned. Every member will have to serve until December 4 when the assembly is held.”

Kasujja, who has served the club for over five years, accused club president Bbaale Mugera, Robert Saawa, Monday Mugalu, Elias Serunjogi and George Semwogerere for kick-starting the existing ‘revolutionary’ struggle within the club’s administration to accomplish personal goals.

“It’s those hypocrites bringing about all this. This has been going on since Express lost its game against Orlando Pirates in 1995. There were several differences that went on till today,” said Kasujja.
