BUKEDDE newspaper was the latest entrant as the number of corporate teams in the MTN Kampala International Marathon shot to over 30.

The sister paper to The New Vision, yesterday confirmed that they will be entering a team in the event set for November 20 in Kampala. Registration for both the corporate and other teams and individual athletes ends Saturday at different MTN outlets and UAF offices.

“They have confirmed that they will be entering a team in the event.

They will hopefully be joined by Capital Radio and other banks,” said Emmanuel Okello, a member of the PR firm for the event
Bukedde joins Capital Radio, who have also entered their breakfast crew in the 10km corporate challenge.

“We are still expecting more corporates to join the marathon. It is five days to the deadline,” said Okello. The event will attract stars from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Ethiopia.

MTN has entered the highest number of corporate teams, 19 in number, while Stanbic Bank, Barclays, Ericsson, dfcu, Nile and Allied Bank have also registered teams.

The money to be raised will be donated to the Red Cross Mama Bag project to help expectant mothers in the internally displaced peoples camps.
