Let us brace ourselves for the political circus once again

SIR — The political players that matter in the 2006 presidential polls are already poised for the race to Uganda’s State House.

Those who were around during the last presidential race in 2001 must be looking forward to another round of ‘elephants’ fighting and tempers flaring to the highest levels. Then there is the expected political ping pong of insults which has become synonymous with politicians of the ‘third world’. While the ‘elephants’ fight the ‘grass’ is crushed in the scuffle.

There is a lot of lies peddled during campaigns. And most people don’t know that what the politicians are promising them are actually their rights and not privileges!

The grubby games during the campaigns not only exposes the immature nature of our so-called democracies but also shows how our dear leaders have no qualms washing their dirty linen in public. Trading insults seems to be quite normal.
