EXPRESS president Bbaale Mugera has distanced himself from the leadership crisis rocking the soccer club.

“I am not a party to the present situation, I have read press reports but will respond in a more appropriate manner,” Mugera said.

On Sunday, club chairman Godfrey Kirumira quit following accusations of non-performance by fans.

The fans also blamed Kirumira for failure to convene a general assembly since he was elected eight years ago.

A day after Kirumira resigned, six other top guns including first vice chairman Meddie Ssebagala and assistant treasurer David Kasujja followed suit.

Confusion reigned when club secretary Kavuma Kabenge said his colleagues were still in office.

Kabenge said any changes to the executive will be made at the general assembly due in December.

But Kasujja blamed the club trustees led by Mugera for the present chaos.

Mugera described Kasujja’s statement as unfortunate.

“I am yet to receive an official communication on what is happening in the executive,” Mugera said.

“There are laid down channels of communication which everybody in leadership knows.”

“I will react when I get an official communication, I cannot reduce myself to the level of handling club matters in the press.”

Express ended the season without a trophy.
