EXPRESS trustees and fans club have called separate meetings aimed at ending the leadership crisis in the soccer club.

The trustees’ meeting will be held at the residence of the patron Ezekiel Mulondo in Bweyogerere on Sunday.

Mulondo called the meeting through the secretary Joseph Musiitwa.

The fans chairman Francis Ntabazi, will chair another meeting at Mutesa 11 Memorial Stadium, Wankulukuku the same day.

Ntabazi said that as fans, they have a responsibility to ensure that the crisis is put to rest.

“We have a responsibility to ensure that the club is run smoothly. That is why I have called the fans to plan the way forward,” Ntabazi said.

Ntabazi said he was yet to get an official position on the resignation of the club chairman Godfrey Kirumira.

Kirumira’s move on Sunday, following accusations of non-performance by the fans, triggered off the leadership crisis.

The fans also blamed Kirumira for failing to convene a general assembly since he was elected eight years ago.

A day after Kirumira quit, six other top officials including first vice chairman Meddie Ssebagala and assistant treasurer David Kasujja followed suit. There was more confusion when club secretary Kavuma Kabenge said his colleagues were still in office.

Drama ensued on Monday when Kasujja accused club president Bbaale Mugera of instigating the fans.

But Mugera denied the accusation and said he is yet to be officially informed by Kirumira’s group of what was happening. “There are laid down channels of communication which everybody in leadership knows,” Mugera said.

Musiitwa said their meeting will discuss at length the crisis. “We will look at the origin of the problems and plan the way forward”.

Both meetings will start at 4pm.
