Yokwe makes USPA grade

GOLFER Charles Yokwe’s exploits in both the African golf championship and Uganda Open has earned him the sports personality of the month of October during the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) monthly meeting.

GOLFER Charles Yokwe’s exploits in both the African golf championship and Uganda Open has earned him the sports personality of the month of October during the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) monthly meeting.

The star, who won the MTN Uganda Open Championship and was part of the team that helped Uganda finish second in the Africa Amateur Golf Team event beat the duo of rally driver Ponsiano Lwakataka and basketballer Stephen Okias to the award.

He polled 350 votes against national rally champion, Lwakataka’s 280 and Okias’ 215.
Yokwe, who was two strokes down entering the final day finished with 285 strokes at the par-72 Kitante Golf Course to beat South African Norman Raad to claim his second Open title.

Nkumba Marine’s Norman Blick, Kaiser Chiefs’ David Obua, Ndejje University’s Samuel Kosgei together with URA FC and Tornado Cricket Club were commended for their display during the month.
