PADER — Former northern Uganda state minister Alphonse Owiny Dollo and MP Santa Okot were Friday elected as the secretary general and vice-chairperson respectively for the district NRM mainstream committee. Also elected was LC5 chairman Edwin Yakobo Komakech, who beat Okot Anywar Lajany, by 66 votes to become NRM chairman.

MUKONO — A reporter with Bukedde, a sister paper of The New Vision, is among six councillors who have joined the 2006 parliamentary race in the district. Steven Musoke, the Nabaale councillor, faces a daunting task to dislodge Joseph Mugambe from the Nakifuma county MP seat. “This is the time to take over from the aging incumbent. I will remain a councillor even if I am not appointed in my constituency,†Musoke said recently.
