TOILET and water facilities worth sh900m were on Tuesday handed over to Makindye Division, writes Florence Nakaayi.
Kampala Urban sanitation Project (KUSP), a French-funded project under Kampala City council, provided the facilities.

KUSP coordinator Dr. Dan Twebaze said the sh900m was used to provide 34 toilets, 44 water stand pipes, six spring water wells and five water tanks to seven parishes in the division.

Division chairman Deo Kijjambu (right), while addressing residents at Jjuuko zone in Kibuye I, attacked landlords who neglect their responsibility of constructing toilets for their tenants.

“Most of the buildings in this area are rented but it is very embarrassing that we still get funds and use them on constructing toilets. Let this be the last time I am opening funded toilets,” he said, adding that the money spent on toilets should have been used to constructs roads and improve drainage.
