STAR golfer Deo Akope will lead a nine-man squad to Kigali on a double mission to be launched on Monday.
Akope, the newly crowned Tanzania Open champion, was yesterday named captain of the East Africa Challenge squad.

The 72-hole match play show will run for three days starting on Monday.
After the Challenge, Akope will start the defence of his Rwanda Open title. The 54-hole stroke play event starts on November 25.

Manager Charles Kareba said the Challenge squad also has Charles Yokwe, Stephen Kasaija, Denis Anguyo, Godfrey Mande, George Olayo, John Basabose, Vincent Byabakama, Gerald Ayella, Herman Mutawe and Amos Kamya.

“I am confident the team will deliver, we are planning for a practice round in Kigali at the weekend,” Kareba said.
Kareba will drop two players ahead of the planned departure on Friday.
The Uganda team, winners in 2001, is up against champions Kenya, Tanzania and hosts Rwanda.

Rwanda is the only country yet to win, having made a debut in Kampala last year.

The Ugandans and their rivals will then storm the Rwanda Open.
