QUEEN Mother Best Kemigisa has come under attack from some members of Toro’s Rukurato (parliament) for reportedly creating divisions in the kingdom.

In a heated meeting at Mucwa Chambers in Fort Portal Municipality on Friday, the members accused Kemigisa and the head of the royal family, Charles Kamurasi, of harbouring personal intentions for rejecting the new premier, David Rusa.

The Police and other security agents were deployed at the meeting.

“Some sections of the Batooro led by Kemigisa and Kamurasi are covering up something. Why are they causing confusion in the kingdom? We shall not accept this kind of thing,” said Zaveriyo Babagamba, a regent in the kingdom.

He said Kemigisa and her group fronted someone as premier but her choice was rejected by regents because he did not qualify. Babagamba did not name the person.

Kamurasi denied the allegations and said he was not against Rusa but the procedure used to appoint him.

“The procedure used was not in accordance with the constitution of Toro kingdom. Otherwise, I have no problem with Rusa being prime minister,” he said.

Rusa urged the Batooro to end the conflict and focuss on development.
