YEI — A senior UN envoy in Sudan has met top southern Sudan government officials over the safety of humanitarian workers in areas where the LRA rebels are reported to be active. In a statement issued on Monday, the UN said Jan Pronk would during his three-day visit also hold talks with southern Sudan Vice-President Riek Machar.

GULU — The Police are holding a woman who is suspected to have clobbered her husband to death on Monday. District CID officer Silvano Okot Zake said Vicentina Akello hit David Ali Oyuku, a UPDF soldier attached to Awoo military unit in Lakwana sub-county, on the head with a log during a domestic quarrel.
