The Community HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI) has donated two ox-ploughs, two cows, mosquito nets, blankets and a bicycle, all worth over sh2m, to Ocokcing Women’s Group in Aduku sub-county, Apac district.
The Aduku LC5 councillor, Mary Ococ Toga, recently handed over the items to the beneficiaries at Aduku heath centre.
Ocokcing chairperson Annet Atim Ogwal thanked CHAI for the donation.

Northwest Christian Teams, a Christian charity in the US, has pledged sto supply drugs for treatment of malaria in the camps for the internally displaced in northern Uganda. The vice-president of international programmes, Northwest Medical Teams, Bill Essig, said this after touring different camps in Lira and Apac districts on Thursday. He said the team had discovered that malaria was the worst killer disease in the camps.
Essig told journalists in Lira town that they would employ many strategies in combating the deadly disease. He visited the camps to assess the humanitarian situation.

— FINCA Uganda has donated 50 re-treatable mosquito nets to Arua regional referral hospital to fight malaria among the patients. The nets will go to the children and women wards who are the most vulnerable to the disease. Speaking at the handover at the hospital on Friday, Arua RDC Alfred Agaba said malaria needed a multi-sectoral approach to control.

— The development worker for the National Union of Disabled Persons Union, Alex Ekwang, has appealed to the Government to train more special needs teachers if the deaf are to benefit from Universal Primary Education programme.

APAC — The rate of infection of sexually-transmitted diseases in the district is alarming, the secretary for health has said. Basil Okello Onak was recently addressing people living with HIV/AIDS at Aduku Health Centre In Aduku sub-county.
