SECURITY agencies have a list of more than 50 people mobilising the public to rebel against the Government.

Kampala Resident District Commissioner Stanley Kinyatta said yesterday, “More than 50 people have been black listed for inciting and mobilising the public to demonstrate in favour of Col. Kizza Besigye and rebel against the Government.”

“For security purposes the names are still confidential. We want to meet these people individually. We are not going to arrest them but if they refuse to talk to us we shall use all means to crack them,” Kinyatta said.

He was addressing a press conference at his office on National Insurance Corporation building. Kinyatta was flanked by his deputies Kigozi Kaweesa (Kawempe), Edward Ssekabanja (Makindye), Fred Bamwine (Rubaga), Mpimbaza Hashaka (Nakawa) and Joyce Rugasa (Central).

He assured the business community and the public that security was guaranteed and that they should open their shops for work, but warned that the Police and the army would shoot dead anybody involved in any demonstration in the city.

“We shall not tolerate hooliganism. Trained Poli-ce personnel are in charge of the city but if it goes out of hand the army will be involved,” he added.

Kigozi warned the media against inciting the public and to disseminate information about demonstrations responsibly.

“Politicians are using the media to incite the public on issues concerning Besigye’s arrest,” he said.
