ABETO irked
KAMPALA — Always Be Tolerant (ABETO), a local peace-promoting organisation, has condemned the manner in which diplomats were handled at the Court Martial and High Court on Thursday. “The way they were humiliated is not acceptable in international standards,” ABE-TO boss Moses Musana said. Court Martial chairman Gen. Elly Tumwine sent the head of the Uganda Development partners, Stig Barlying, out of the court sitting in Makindye in which Dr. Kizza Besigye was being charged.

Condom call
MUKONO — The directorate of health services (DDHS) has started a massive sensitisation campaign to increase condom use. This follows a study by the Uganda AIDS Control project in 2004 indicating that 66.8% of men don’t use condoms. The deputy DDHS, Susan Wandera, said the campaign would also involve promoting the abstinence and Be faithful strategies.

Muslims aid
KAMPALA — The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) and the Institute of Elahi International have donated seven tones of maize flour to the former child Soldier association development (FOCSAD) in Gulu district. The deputy Mufti, sheik Twaibu Mukuye, said the donation was to help children who lost their parents in the war. FOCSAD coordinator Jennifer Aryemu thanked UMSC and Elahi International for the support.

Kenyan killed
MUKONO — A Kenyan youth was killed and his elder brother left in coma when Namawojjolo trading centre residents roughed them up after finding them with illegal weapons. Joseph Edopa, the district CID chief, identified the dead as Graham Kabosi, and Joseph Ojollo Graham as residents of Mahobolo village in Nyanzi province, Kenya. Edopa condemned the mob action, saying the perpetrators would be prosecuted.
