<b>70% for paraffin</b><br>NATIONAL –– Seventy-five per cent of Ugandan households use paraffin wick lamps (<i>tadooba</i>) for lighting in 2002. Only 8% use electricity while 82% use firewood for cooking, according to the <i>State of Uganda Population Report 2005</i>.

NATIONAL –– Seventy-five per cent of Ugandan households use paraffin wick lamps (tadooba) for lighting in 2002. Only 8% use electricity while 82% use firewood for cooking, according to the State of Uganda Population Report 2005. The report predicts more pressure on energy services from a growing population.

Leopard seen
MUKONO –– Residents of Kalagala village are living in fear following an invasion of a leopard recently. The area LC3 chairperson Christopher Katamba told the The New vision that the leopard has so far eaten five goats. He said the matter had been forwarded to the district authorities who will contact the Uganda Wildlife Authority for help.

Few access piped water
NATIONAL –– Piped water and sewerage services are available for only 8% of urban dwellers while the rest of the urban population use on site systems, predominantly pit latrines, according to the State of Uganda Population Report 2005.
