DEMOCRATIC Party (DP) president and Kampala mayor John Ssebaana Kizito has filed a notice of appeal, protesting loss of a storey building in the city centre.
City lawyers Kwesigabo, Bamwine, Walubiri and Company Advocates, filed Ssebaana’s notice of appeal against Justice Yorokamu Bamwine’s judgement.
Appealing with Ssebaana is the Kampala Land Board (KLB), which Bamwine condemned for ignoring one Dayalji Gejja’s lease extension judgement, allowing ssebaana to acquire the property. The notice was copied to Gejja’s lawyers, Omunyokol and Company Advocates.
The building at the centre of the ownership wrangle is located at plot 59 on Martin Road, Old Kampala.
Ssebaana had renovated and added a third floor to the building.
Gejja’s grandfather built the building in the 1940’s, but Ssebaana acquired it in the 1980’s, after former president Idi Amin expelled the Asians.
