VOTERS should shun candidates who use divisive and abusive language in the coming elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson has said.

VOTERS should shun candidates who use divisive and abusive language in the coming elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson has said.
Dr. Badru Kiggundu said such politicians caused hatred, which yielded to conflicts in society.
He said Ugandans were not ready to go back to the horrible experiences of the 1970s.
“Politicians should come into this field ready to play a fair game. I urge Ugandans to shun candidates who stand on the podium and urge their supporters to hate others because of their political, religious, cultural or any other kind of difference.
“We should struggle to inculcate a culture of peace and tolerance,†he said.
Kiggundu was on Friday officiating at the launch of the Always Be Tolerant Organisation (ABETO) peace flag at Makerere Guest House in Kampala.
He said it was every Ugandan’s responsibility to eliminate conflicts.
ABETO chairman Moses Musana said Ugandans had seen enough turmoil and were not in the mood for seeing a replay.
