NEWLY appointed Express FC coach George Simwogerere (right) has opted for Tanzanian James Kisaka as his assistant coach.
At the sametime, ‘Simu’, as he is popularly known at the fan-following side, has signed Tanzanian internationals Felix Temi and Barbanas Marley.
The former Red Eagles’ captain, who took over from Polly Ouma early this week believes that Kisaka, former Tanzania’s Simba SC player is the best option for an assistant.
“I have the option to choose my assistant and I looked at him as the best option. I have been working with him at Kagera FC and I am sure he can deliver,” said Simwogerere after yesterday’s training at Wankulukuku.
Former clubmates Kefa Kisaala and Edward Kalungi have been assisting head coach Ouma signed last October. He left when former chairman Godfrey Kirumira gave up the club leadership.
Simu said that the club administration had already consented to his choice.
“They have already discussed everything and Kisaka will be in soon. He is a good coach,” he said.
He promised to cooperate with club’s directors of football, Ashe Mukasa and Robert Aloro, to restore the club’s glory.
“Building a team requires more than an individual. It is by concerted efforts by all those with the same objective,” observed Simwogerere.
On the other hand striker Temi and defender Marley arrived in Kampala yesterday from Tanzania premier soccer side Kagera Sugar.
Simwogerere handled the two players at Kagera FC.
The former Cranes international led the Tanzania side to fourth place in the league last season.
“The two players are disciplined and committed and I am confident they will fit into the team,” Simwogerere said.
Simu, also a former Cranes captain, started his coaching career with Military Police in 2001.
He moved to Masaka LC side, then handled Kagera Sugar until his role at Wankulukuku.
