THE Ministry of Lands is to re-open the survey training school in the country. Richard Oput, the coordinator of land tenure reform, said recently.

Oput said the ministry had received $24b from the World Bank under the private sector competitiveness project and part of it would be used to revive the school of surveyors in the country.

He said this would be done in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, under which the institute falls.
Oput said the lands ministry had few surveyors, owing to the closure of the training school.

He said for the last 10 years, they had not produced any surveyor in Uganda. He said there was a lot of bureaucracy in land survey due to limited manpower. Oput said all along, the ministries wanted to re-open the school of surveyors but there was shortage of funds.
