SIX clubs have filed a petition seeking to nullify last month’s Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) elections.

Mulago, Civil Aviation Authority, Luzira, Mengo, Stanbic and Kampala chess clubs filed the petition arguing that ineligible members voted in the polls that brought in a new executive headed by Gerald Katolege.

“The reason for the petition is that non-member clubs and those which were not paid up were allowed to vote and therefore illegally influenced the results of the election,” read the petition signed by the six clubs.

The returning officer David Luswata said he received the petition and asked the ‘non-member’ clubs— KIU, Iganga, Lugogo, Jinja and Kampala to respond by January 7.
