UGANDA league champions Police FC were handed a potential banana-skin tie when the 2006 MTN Champions League and Confederation Cup draw was released by CAF in Cairo, Egypt, yesterday.

Police were pitted against the hard-nut Al Hilal of Sudan, a match that will mark their debut appearance in the Champions League after beating SC Villa in the final of a knockout league format.

Should they negotiate the Al Hilal tie, another Herculean fixture awaits the Uganda cops in the second round; either the highly-rated Nigerian side Enugu Rangers or Botswana’s Police XI will be their opponents.

APR of Rwanda were drawn against the gritty Angolan side AS Aviacao. Aviacao dumped Villa out of the Champions League in 2003.

Former champions Enyimba of Nigeria face Gabon’s Mangasport.
In the CAF Cup, URA was drawn against a Kenyan team yet to be named as the local federation attempts to restore order in the league and administration.

A win for Uganda Revenue Authority will see them again face feisty Sudanese opponents, this time in the shape of El Merreikh. Rayon Sport of Rwanda and Awassa (Ethiopia) recreate another regional duel.
