TOP seed Patrick Olobo was fully stretched before he won the Lugogo Tennis Open on Saturday.

Olobo, who was on holiday in Kampala, lost the first set but fought hard to edge second seed James Odong at Lugogo club.
“I had to work for every point, he put up a good fight and deserves credit,” Olobo said.

A few hours after the win, Olobo returned to the United States, where he is undertaking a four-year education-cum-tennis training programme.

The women’s crown went to local player Janet Namutebi after a relatively less difficult battle against British entrant Isabela Iatken.

A 6-0, 6-3 win ended Namutebi’s brilliant campaign.

In the men’s doubles, Duncan Mugabe linked up with his brother Daniel Ruyanye to win. They beat Olobo and Chris Baagala in straight sets.

The one week tournament, organized by Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) drew over 30 players.
