THE Group of the six main opposition parties (G6) has agreed to field single candidates for the parliamentary and local government elections.

The agreement was arrived at during a G6 meeting called by the DP presidential candidate, John Ssebaana Kizito, on Christmas Eve.

Ssebaana’s national campaign director Nobert Mao on Monday said, “The G6 have agreed to field single candidates. In areas like Aswa where Reagan Okumu of FDC is so popular, there would be no need of any other party to field a candidate.”

He said the benefit of the G6 cooperation is to make sure that the NRM does not get a majority in parliament and local councils.

Mao said the G6 also laid strategies of curbing electoral malpractices.
