CHRISTMAS was a true celebration of love, joy and hope for street children, refugees, beggars and the destitute, in Kampala.
For once they were not scattered on the usually-busy city streets but converged at Christ the King Church for a rare lunch hosted by the Church and the Sant’ Egidio lay community.
Numbering about 300, among them Congolese refugees, they ate food and for looked lively, like their troubles were forever gone.
Christ the King youth chaplain Fr. P. Joseph Sebunya appealed to the business community to show compassion to people who cannot find food and shelter and help them have a better life.
The Community of Sant’ Egidio seeks to serve the poor, pray and live as friends.
