UGANDA Tennis Association (UTA) is looking for assistance to facilitate 15-year-old Duncan Mugabe’s stay at the International Tennis Federation African training centre in Durban.
Mugabe is Uganda’s most promising youngster, and UTA needs sh7m to maintain him at the centre in South Africa.
UTA will contribute $1500 (sh2.8m) towards Mugabe’s stay at the training centre for a year.
The cost of his air-ticket, visa fees, an allowance and sports gear will be $2390 (sh4.4m), according to UTA acting secretary John Murumu.
Mugabe is supposed to report to the training centre on January 10. If he gets funds, it will be his third year at the centre.
Early this month, Mugabe and Patrick Ochan made the doubles final of the ITF U-18 East Africa circuit. A week later he and elder brother Daniel Ruyange won the Lugogo Open doubles.
