Soldier shot
MBARARA — A UPDF soldier was on Wednesday reportedly killed during a robbery mission. Cpl. Denis Ariyo, of the 21st battalion in Soroti, was killed by the police at about 11:20pm near Andrews Inn. An SMG and bullets were found at the scene.

KAMPALA — Two hundred ninety-five people died and 5,685 others were injured in road accidents in the city last year, the Police said recently. Releasing the annual traffic report at the Central Police Station, city traffic chief Gabriel Tibayungwa said 10,338 accidents were reported in 2003.

MBARARA — LC1 chairpersons in the district have said President Yoweri Museveni has never invited them to his home in Rwakitura for meetings yet they are the core of the Movement. This was at Mbarara University Hall where Museveni delivered a three-hour lecture on poverty eradication.

KAMPALA — Several people were injured in a pile up at the Wandegeya round-about yesterday when a high-speed chase ended in an accident in which the suspect emerged naked from a stolen vehicle. Wand-egeya Police chief Francis Oriokot said the man, in an effort to shake off the Police, swerved into another lane and collided with two vehicles.
