THE Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) on Friday killed four suspected gangsters in Makindye-Nanganda.

This is the first incident in which security agents have killed armed gangsters this year.
Several suspects escaped but a French-made star pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition were recovered from a ‘freezer,’ the nickname given to the robbers’ high perimeter wall house.

Also recovered were several car number plates, three of them belonging to vehicles stolen during the Christmas period.

VCCU chief David Magara said on Friday the thugs had earlier eluded security operatives after a foiled robbery attempt at a petrol station on Gayaza Road.

In a related incident, VCCU is holding 22 men suspected to be coordinating the the robbery of motorcycles in the country.

This comes shortly after Police chief Katumba Wamala (above), pledged to crackdown on crime.
