Former Vice-President Dr. Specioza Kazibwe has said anti-third term agitators should let the NRM organisation (NRMO) supporters choose their presidential candidate at the right time.
She said supporters of other parties had no right to decide on the NRMO’s destiny.
Kazibwe said they should stop giving President Yoweri Museveni sleepless nights over third term talks.
“Why waste time talking about one man, Museveni? The Democratic Party and others are also free to have theirs and leave us to go with the Movement. Museveni has other things to do for this country than listening to the third term debates,†she said.
Kazibwe was on Wednesday speaking on Nile Broadcasting Services, a Jinja-based FM radio station.
She said the Movement was free to front anyone as presidential candidate in the 2006 general elections.
“Why do people fear Museveni? If we in the Movement party still want him, we should be free to field him, like others are free to have their choices,†Kazibwe said.
Citing former British premier Margaret Thatcher, she said leaders can serve for more than two terms when their people wish to retain them.
Kazibwe, who resigned her post in June 2003 to pursue further studies in the US, said many organisations wanted to employ her due to the experience she acquired in the Government.
