ANDREW Meya has taken over as the national U-19 team manager after Aloysius Nainhabo quit.
In a meeting held at Lugogo, Nainhabo was relieved of national duties following his heavy workload that has kept him away from the team since October.

Meya, who had also lost his coaching slot to the vastly experienced Tom Tikolo, has confirmed his availability to the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) for the World Cup.

The former national player was coach of the successful U-19 team that played at the World Cup qualifiers in Namibia last October in a tournament that attracted eight nations. Uganda beat Kenya to qualify for the summit.

In another change, work-horse William Kamanyi was also named as the national physiotherapist and will travel with the team for their maiden International Cricket Council World Cup.

Kamanyi is also a local development officer currently working with Tikolo to ensure the growth of the game from the grass roots.

He has showed his ability to handle the physic of youngsters during residential camps and local academies at Lugogo.

Meanwhile, the UCA executive led by chairman Latimer Mukasa is making arrangements to travel to Bangladesh for the World Cup between February and March.

ICC has sent 100 tickets to the local association for the fans who would wish to watch the matches.
