KAMPALA — Taxi fares have remained normal despite an increment in fuel prices. Pump price of petrol and other oil products shot up by sh150 at the weekend over fears of fuel shortage. The Uganda Bus Operators Association operations manager, Lukumu Muzamiru, said the increment in fuel could not spark an increment in fares as there were few passengers travelling.

Ddungu wins sh2.5m prize

Janet meets Sudan envoy
KAMPALA — The First Lady, Janet Museveni, yesterday held talks with the Sudanese Ambassador to Uganda, Sirajedeen Hamid. The meeting took place at her office in Kololo. State House said Sirajedeen briefed her on the repatriation of 200 children who had been abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels with the help of the United Nations Children’s Fund.

Three held over murder
KAMPALA — The Police have arrested three suspects over last week’s murder of a city trader, Simon Yiga. Police chief Benson Oyo Nyeko yesterday said two of those in custody were key suspects while the third, a woman, was only being held for questioning. But other sources identified one of the suspects as Sadiq Ombele, the guard accused of conspiring with the attackers to kill Yiga.
