Some media houses don’t portray right impressions

SIR — I would like to comment on the way some sections of the media are reporting on the ongoing prosecution of UPDF officers in the General Court Martial. On the first day, I saw in the monitor pictures one officer, a prosecutor portrayed as being happy with another one, an accused.

SIR — I would like to comment on the way some sections of the media are reporting on the ongoing prosecution of UPDF officers in the General Court Martial. On the first day, I saw in the monitor pictures one officer, a prosecutor portrayed as being happy with another one, an accused.

Then on the second day, another officer, also a prosecutor, was portrayed as if he could not see eye to eye with another accused officer.

This is to insinuate that there is personal conflict between selected officers in the UPDF because of the assignments they are given by the army leadership or that some of us are not serious with the actions and decisions taken by the Army leadership.

This is to create artificial rivalries which is not healthy for the UPDF as an institution and for Uganda as a country.

Some sectors of the media tend to show that some UPDF officers are being witchhunted.

And some negative politicians have gone further to make fun of us that UPDF is just playing on the psychology of the public during the current crack-down on corruption in the force.

This is wrong.

To us in the UPDF, we need to see justice in all forms. We also hope that the decisions being taken at this time in the history of the UPDF will lead to improvement in our welfare and that of our families and those affected by the terrorists in northern and northeastern Uganda.
