Nebbi LC5 chairman Esrom William Alenyo has warned that the West Nile region will not support President Yoweri Museveni for the third term if the Government does not construct Nyagak dam, reports Frank Mugabi.

Alenyo said residents of Arua and Nebbi districts were not happy with the Government’s delay to construct the dam in Nebbi district.

He was recently speaking at a ground-breaking ceremony for Nebbi Standard Academy.
He said the project was to start in 2000 and be completed last year. “All this period has passed without any sign of construction and yet the Government said it had secured funding for the project,” he said.

“People are now saying they are tired of lies. They have been voting overwhelmingly for the Movement but this time round with the referendum in the offing, results are bound to change against the Movement unless construction is kicked off,” He added.

He said they lost hope after a meeting on January 15 when the contractors, West Nile Rural Electrification Company, said they did not know when the money would be released.

Alenyo said the district will send a delegation to meet the minister of energy to get a final stand on the matter.
