IGG, probe the plot allocation

SIR — Late last year, the secretary of the Uganda Land Commission sought applications from civil servants who had missed out on pool houses to benefit from sub-divided plots in Ugandan towns.

The purpose was to enable fair allocation to deserving applicants based on rank and duration of service. It is disheartening that the exercise was fraught with irregularities.

Most of the allocatees are Kampala-based officers many of whom had already benefited from the exercise by fronting junior staff.

I therefore request the IGG to investigate the transparency of the process. This is urgent because the list of over 300 plots has already come out.
