RING legend Leo Rwabwogo could provide the answer to Uganda’s Athens Olympics qualification puzzle.

Rwabwogo, a double Olympic medallist, has been included on the technical team that will travel with the Bombers to Botswana in March for the last qualifier for the Athens games.

The Ezra Boxing Board (EBB) which has undertaken full sponsorship of Uganda’s Olympic preparations named Rwabwogo as technical adviser to a 12-man contingent.
Rwabwogo became the first Ugandan to win an Olympic medal when he punched his way to a bronze at the 1968 Mexico games.

Boxing authorities will be banking on his rich history to help Uganda get a respectable number of qualifiers in Gaborone to join light fly Jolly Katongole and featherweight Brian Mayanja. The duo earned tickets for Athens at a recent qualifier Morocco.

The boxers:
M. Mubiru (fly), A. Mugerwa (bantam), S. Rukundo (light), S.Tebazalwa (l/welter), J. Lubega (middle) and T. Sekabira (l/heavy).
Coach Dick Katende.
