KABAROLE district authorities have blacklisted 11 contractors for shoddy work

By Frederick Nyakabwa

KABAROLE district authorities have blacklisted 11 contractors for shoddy work.

The contractors were accused of doing sub-standard work on government projects under the Schools Facilities Grant (SFG).

They include Jab Contractors, Network Civil Engineering, Tropics, Trima Enterprises, Unique, JB, Job Bbala and Sons, Ceeky, Hrane, Smart Contractors and Brightman Contractors.

This was announced by the new chief administrative officer (CAO), Peterken Iporotum Okiror, at a meeting held on Tuesday at Mucwa Chambers in Fort Portal.

The CAO said he would not tolerate contractors who carry out sub-standard work.

He said the council would not pay for shoddy work, adding that some of them would be sued.

He said contractors should strive to develop Uganda instead of seeking higher profits at the expense of quality.

Okiror said SFG funds should be used on permanent buildings instead of semi-permanent structures which could collapse on pupils.
