THE Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) has opened the netball player transfers for the 2004 season.
In an assembly conducted by the federation, players will be allowed to transfer freely to any of the netball clubs within the next 30 days.
UNF secretary Rosette Kaala (right) confirmed that players and officials will be free to pick up transfer forms from the federation offices. They will fill the forms and have them signed before the 30 days granted elapse.
Kaala said that this year’s season throws off in March with two teams more in the women’s league and one more team to the men’s teams bringing them to five.
The registration process will proceed the transfers exercise. New teams for the women league include Mulago and Police.
Police will also field a team in the men’s category.
Meanwhile, NIC players have started intensive training as they prepare to defend their Nje Cup title in Arusha, Tanzania next month.
Shalala men’s team will join NIC that outlasted Tanzania’s Jeshi Stars to lift the crown last year. Shalala, that lead the league table in the men’s standings, will represent Uganda at the inaugural men’s event in Nje Cup.
