— A demonstration by cattle traders against “unfavourable conditions” that started on Monday at the Uganda Meat Industries yesterday spread to the city abattoir, also run by city tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba. The commotion started when traders were stopped from selling hides to other dealers offering better prices.

Karim wife is dead
KAMPALA—
The body of Ziba Charm Hirji, wife to Kampala business tycoon, Karim Hirji, arrives today from London where she died on Sunday night. Charm succumbed to cancer at Cromwell Hospital in London after a long illness.

Arya school re-opens
KAMPALA
— Arya primary school was yesterday re-opened after Kampala RDC Dr. Stanley Kinyatta petitioned President Yoweri Museveni over the fate of 1,568 pupils. Following the petition Nakawa deputy RDC, Samuel Hashaka, told The New Vision yesterday the pupils would start classes on Monday.

Coltan saga in court
KAMPALA
— An ongoing US$80,000 (sh200m) dispute between Ugandan and Congolese traders dealing in Coltan and Tantalite minerals has now been taken to the Commercial Court. Rwema Gervias, a Congolese businessman, has sued Joy Bazigaga a Kampala businesswoman seeking to recover a bungalow and vehicle.
