Kitengi clothes may be donned in many places except during Nebbi district council meetings.
On Friday, the district council speaker, David Ringe-chan, banned councillors from donning kitengi outfits for meetings.
He introduced a motionbanning kitengi and prohibiting coloured Kaunda suits. It was passed in minutes.
It was resolved that male councillors put on ties and female councillors wear coats during meetings.
Ringe-chan said the new rules would make the councillors look more decent.
Over half of the councillors were dressed in bitengi outfits including the vice-chairman, Okwir Amula.
The councillors, who were made of stronger mettle, seized the opportunity to demand for allowance arrears which they said would enable them purchase better clothes and adhere to the new dress code.
