PADER — Last week the army rescued 40 children born in LRA rebel captivity. The commander of the Pader-based 509 brigade, Lt. Col. Paul L’Okech, on Monday said most of the children belonging to top LRA rebel commanders were less than six years old. He said 22 child-mothers were also rescued.

‘Aid schools’
LIRA — MP Omara Atubo (Otuke) has appealed to the Government to support privately-owned schools. Speaking at the thanksgiving day for St. Kizito Primary School recently, Atubo said children were not private property but a national asset. The school got 60 in grade one last year.

One killed
PADER — Suspected LRA rebels recently killed a CARITAS official. Sources said Joseph Otim, an accountant of the Catholic NGO, was killed in Paiula village, Aruu county, on his way to Pajule Children Rehabilitation Centre on Monday. The LRA reportedly shelled his vehicle.
