SIR— I wish to mourn with the people of Lira and northern Uganda in general over the tragedy that befell them on Saturday at Bar-Lonyo Camp when marauding Kony terrorists killed innocent people.

SIR— I wish to mourn with the people of Lira and northern Uganda in general over the tragedy that befell them on Saturday at Bar-Lonyo Camp when marauding Kony terrorists killed innocent people.

Of late, Ugandans have been given hope with the successes of the UPDF when senior Kony commanders were finished off.

But it is unfortunate that the rebels have used uniforms similar to those of the Amuka Boys in the recent encounters which they have used to hoodwink them and the UPDF to be able to reach and kill unarmed civilians.

Is it because the army commander recently announced that UPDF will follow Kony into Sudan that the terrorists are attacking the civilians to attract publicity and divert the intention of UPDF from this objective? And the so-called Brig Sam Kolo comes out shamelessly on BBC to make his false statements that the victims died in crossfire! Who is he fooling?
Let those involved in peace initiatives increase their effort.

The UPDF should know that its most important mission is to protect lives. May God rest the deceased in eternal life.
