FFUMBE stamped their prowess in the Bika boxing championship after clinching victory for the fifth consecutive year on Sunday.

The champions, who never looked back after taking charge on day-two of the week-long event, proved the team to beat as they went unassailable with 58 points at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
Team coach Quraish Walusimbi, renowned for taking his boxers through long tough drills, promised to maintain the reign that stretches back to the year 2000 when they dethroned two-time champions Ngeye.

“With continued support from our elders, others will have a very long time to wait before tasting this glory,” vowed Walusimbi.

Nkima coach Tamale blamed lack of support for his team’s lacklustre performance in the annual event.
“Our main problem is that our elders only love football and netball. And this has denied us good preparation,” he complained.

Mengo finance minister J. B. Walusimbi graced the finals of the CBS FM sponsored tournament that drew 178 pugilists from 26 clans in novices, intermediates and Open categories.
