THE Joint Anti-Terrorism Force (JAT) has denied knowledge of four people allegedly extra-judicially executed by the JAT last year in Katikamu, Luweero district.

The New York-based Human Rights Watch and the Sunday Monitor named three of them as Captain Daudi Ssewamuwa, Ismael Mviru and Mutwalib Walakira.

The JAT said, in a statement signed by a Police spokesperson, Assuman Mugenyi yesterday, “We kindly request the relatives of the above mentioned people, (if at all they exist) or any person with information about the said names, to come forward and avail the information in confidence to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the CID Director or the Uganda Human Rights Commission for independent investigations.”

The JAT has challenged any person who alleges that the four were executed by security agencies to produce evidence. The joint security agency was formed in 1998 and comprises of the Police, UPDF, Military Intelligence, the Internal Security Organisation and External Security Organisation.

It was instrumental in cracking down on bomb throwers in Kampala and other towns.
