MUKONO — The LC5 chairperson, Godfrey Ddamulira, has said the district administration block under construction would cost sh4.2b. He said Excel Construction Company, the contractor, was demanding sh1.8b for work so far done. Ddamulira said the district had paid the firm a sh100m downpayment. He said the construction work resumes in a month’s time after settling the debt

Lords warned
LUWEERO — The LC5 chairperson, Hajji Abdu Naduli, has ordered the arrest of all landlords evicting tenants off their land without compensation. Naduli, who was addressing residents of Kamila sub-county on Monday, told the gombolola chief to submit the list to his office within two weeks.

Peace visit
LUWEERO — A delegation of 100 religious leaders from Acholi, Lango and Teso are in Luweero to hold a series of reconciliation rallies with the people of the former Triangle. The visit was organised by New Hope Uganda NGO. The group arrived on Thursday.

IGG warns
MBALE — The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Jotham Tumwesigye, has said the decentralisation policy might be reviewed if corruption continued affecting service delivery in local governments. Tumwesigye was addressing a workshop at Mt. Elgon Hotel Mbale.
