MORE than 10,000 adults have enrolled for the functional adult literacy (FAL) programme in Apac district this year

MORE than 10,000 adults have enrolled for the functional adult literacy (FAL) programme in Apac district this year, reports Patrick Opio.

District FAL coordinator George Ogwanga recently said 7,615 of the 10,135 registered adults were females.

He said 3,112 of the 4,252 who sat last year’s examinations passed.

Contents taught include skills of reading, writing, counting and good governance.

“Our facilitators also handle some basic and elementary information on health and hygiene.

“Learners are sensitised on HIV/AIDS, sanitation, family and personal hygiene,” he said.
