Remand Homes Congested

The law reform sector has reported that Kampirigisa and Nagulu remand homes for Juveniles are congested.

The law reform sector has reported that Kampirigisa and Nagulu remand homes for Juveniles are congested.
They asked the Government to plan for remand homes and national rehabilitation centres.
Over 20 participants from remand homes, ministry of gender and justice reform sector were attending a two-day workshop on juvenile justice training in Jinja.
The workshop was organised by the ministry of gender in partnership with Horizont 3000, an Austrian Co-operation organisation.
Ralph Ochan permanent secretary ministry of gender, labour and social development, reported understaffing at the department of children and youth affairs causing neglect of children rights.
He called for implementation of the UN convention on children’s rights and co-ordination of activities in the sector.
