MBALE Heroes has sacked coach Ibrahim Maruti following the club’s poor performance in the ongoing Top Radio Super League.

Club vice chairman Steven Namonyo said the decision to relieve Maruti of his duties was taken at a club executive committee meeting on Sunday.

“The committee is now looking around for a new coach because Maruti has failed to deliver,” Namonyo said.

In their recent outing, Heroes were trounced 3-0 by army side Simba FC at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, raising questions among Heroes fans about Maruti’s ability to handle the team through the season.

Maruti played for Mbale Heroes in the 90s as a striker before moving to the bench. He replaced Geoffrey Higenyi, who was also sacked.

- DAVID Obua struck the all important goal as Express salvaged a draw in their second friendly game in Kenya yesterday.

Mumias Sugar had taken the lead in the 61st minute when Moses Okoth headed from a corner taken by Silvano Otema.

Obua levelled in the 79th minute after a perfect combination with Hassan Mubiru.

Coach James Sianga returned last night to Kampala, from where he will name his team for the Ethiopian assignment before they fly out tonight.

The Red Eagles were beaten 2-1 by Kenyan champions Nzoia Sugar on Monday.

- SC Villa coach Micho Srejodevic will rely on the attacking prowess of two young midfielders Joseph Kabagambe and Bukenya Malidadi to dominate the African Champions League return leg against Bakili Bullets.

“These are two amazing players I will rely on,” Micho said.

- KOBS are slated to return home on Saturday from Angola, where they lost 1-0 to the hosts in their penultimate Olympic qualifying game.

Kobs wind up with a game at home against Ethiopia on March 27.
The U-23 sides’ delay subsequently affects KCC FC’s Top Radio Super league fixture against Mityana Utoda that had to be played on Sunday.

KCC have more than four players in Kobs.
